Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

195.

asked the Minister for Lands how many forestry and Land Commission employees have qualified for redundancy payments when laid off work in Sligo and Leitrim.

Six workers employed by the Forestry Division were laid off in Sligo and Leitrim since the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967, came into operation. All six men were taken on for temporary work, none was in employment for more than five months and none qualified for redundancy payments under the Act.

No Land Commission workers were laid off.

Question No. 196 postponed.

Deputy Michael O'Leary gave notice of his intention to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of Question No. 175 of the 22nd November but, as the Minister for Health is unable to be present, perhaps the Deputy will agree to have it postponed?

The point is that I was anxious to hear what the Minister for Health has to say on this matter. However, I am prepared to raise it on Tuesday.

The Dáil adjourned at 4.30 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 3rd December, 1968.
