Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Demolition of Dublin Flats.

36.

(Dublin) asked the Minister for Local Government when it is expected to have Keogh Square, Dublin, completely demolished; and whether in the new development plans provision is made for adequate recreational amenities.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that they expect to complete, early in 1969, the demolition of the remaining flats in Keogh Square on the site of the proposed re-development scheme.

The layout plan approved by me for the re-development provides for recreational amenities comprising five children's playspaces, and a site of three acres for amenity buildings and recreational purposes.

Does the Minister not consider it remarkable for him to set out the reply to the question as he did as compared with the manner in which he replied to the question relating to Dublin Corporation? It is perfectly obvious the Minister is looking after the members of his own Party.

That is not relevant to the question asked.

I reply to the questions that are put down on the Order Paper.

Will the Minister ensure that these amenities are provided at the same time as the flats in Keogh Square?

I have answered that.
