Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Road Development.

66.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give details of the proposed developments on the road T.1. in County Meath; and whether it is definitely proposed to alter the line of the existing road.

Subject to the settlement of design details, I have approved the proposals of Meath County Council for the improvement, along the line of the existing road, of the Julianstown/Drogheda sector of T.1. No proposals have been submitted to me for treatment of the remainder of this road in County Meath.

Is the Minister not aware that at least five plans have been submitted to his Department including an aerial survey for that portion of the road and that his Department have refused to sanction any of the plans? In view of the fact that a considerable amount of money has already been spent, would the Minister consider getting his Department to design the road rather than ask the Council to submit a design?

I accept the information that I have been given. The proposals for the improvement have been approved and no further proposals have been submitted for treatment of the remainder of this road in County Meath.

I know that the Minister is a man who will accept anything that he is told.
