Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Army Barracks.

85.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will again review the possibilities of handing over to the local authority some of the Dublin city barracks for development as housing sites.

Military requirements do not permit of the surrender of any of the military barracks or appurtenant lands in Dublin city and, in the circumstances, it is not possible to hand over any portion thereof to the Local Authority for development as housing sites.

Is the Minister aware that some of the barracks have been handed over to Civil Service Departments?

I am aware that portion of one barracks is being used by a Department of State and by the local authority. It has not been handed over entirely.

Is there any rent collected?
