Vol. 237 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Beef Subsidy Payments.

26.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (a) how much beef subsidy was paid by his Department direct to farmers who sent beef cattle to the factories, (b) how many cattle were involved in these schemes and (c) how many farmers were involved in these payments.

Payments under the beef export guarantee scheme, totalling £1,358 16s 8d have been made by my Department direct to 15 persons in respect of 187 cattle sent by them to meat factories since the arrangement for such direct payments was introduced on 5th February, 1968.

Would the Minister inform me where did all the 5/- calves and the 2s 6d lambs go that were talked about in this House some time ago?

I would want to have notice of that question.
