Vol. 237 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Dublin Bridge.

76.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there has been any progress on the suggestions that a new bridge be built east of Butt Bridge, Dublin.

I dealt in detail with this subject in reply to questions on 6th March last. In that reply I referred to the fact that projects were being considered by the corporation for two bridges to the east of Butt Bridge, one a quay-level bridge immediately east of the Custom House and the other a high-level bridge further east. As to the quay-level bridge, an outline proposal for an inner ring road, involving such a bridge, was formulated by the corporation and is still being studied.

As to the high-level bridge, further down stream, various aspects of this proposal have to be further considered by the corporation, in consultation, where necessary, with the Port and Docks Board.
