Vol. 238 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ground Rents Legislation.

49.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will consider introducing legislation to amend the Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) Act, 1967 to enable rural tenants to purchase or buy out small parcels of tenancies.

The code of landlord and tenant law, of which the Ground Rents Act is part, is concerned only with land forming the site of buildings or land that is subsidiary and ancillary to buildings, whether in urban or rural areas. Parcels of rural land as such are outside the scope of the legislation.
