Vol. 238 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Site Excavations.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance what initiative the Office of Public Works have taken to facilitate excavations on the proposed site of Dublin's Civic Centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter indicating, if possible, whether archeologists will be allowed to excavate there before construction begins.

Funds have been made available to the National Museum of Ireland out of Subhead K of the vote for Public Works and Buildings for an archeological excavation on the proposed site of Dublin's Civic Centre. The archaeological survey of the site began on 23rd January, 1969, and excavation work is now in progress.
