Vol. 238 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government if sufficient money was granted to Kerry County Council to carry out the Ventry sewerage scheme; and the present position in the matter.

No proposals are before my Department for the provision of a sewerage scheme at Ventry.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Portmagee, County Kerry sewerage scheme.

A preliminary report for this scheme is under consideration in my Department. The local authority have not indicated the priority that they wish to accord it.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in having the sewerage scheme provided for the South Shore at Rush, County Dublin.

The preliminary report for the sewerage scheme for the South Shore, Rush, County Dublin was approved by me on the 26th July, 1968. I have asked the local authority to finalise the planning of this scheme as a matter of urgency.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government the value of water and sewerage schemes for County Kerry which are awaiting sanction in his Department.

The total value of sanitary services schemes, including group water supply schemes, at all stages of planning at present before my Department for County Kerry is of the order of £4 million. A number of these are, however, only at a preliminary stage of planning.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has any plans in his Department for a water supply for the town of Tuam, County Galway, so that the drainage of the river Nanny can be completed.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position in regard to the Tuam water supply scheme as failure to implement this scheme is delaying the completion of the drainage of the Ballinalode river.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 41 and 42 together.

Preliminary proposals for alterations and improvements to the Tuam water supply are at present under consideration in my Department. On the latest information available to me, however, the scheme is not regarded by the local authority as having a high priority on their water and sewerage programme.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals before his Department for the provision of a water supply scheme for the Baskin Cottages, Cloghran, County Dublin; and, if so, if he will give early sanction to this proposal.

I have approved a tender for the water supply scheme for the Baskin Cottages, Cloghran, County Dublin.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding Kells group water scheme, County Kerry.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to his question on this scheme on 2nd July, 1968. There has been no change in the position since then.
