Vol. 238 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New House Grants.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the grave hardship to small farmers in the Malahide, Rush and other areas in North County Dublin who are being deprived of the increased rate of new house grant; and if he will take steps to rectify the position.

I am so aware. The Government have decided to take the necessary steps to enable the increased rate of new house grants, introduced in the Housing Act, 1966, to be paid to small farmers living in town areas such as those mentioned by the Deputy. It is intended that this new provision will apply to houses commenced on or after 1st October, 1963.
