Vol. 239 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Old IRA Pensions.

50.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give favourable consideration in the forthcoming budget to granting increased pensions to Old IRA men in view of the fact that these pensions when first granted were equivalent to a labourer's wages and that they have not kept in line with increases in the cost of living.

Any increase in pensions for veterans of the War of Independence is a budgetary matter and the Deputy will understand that I could not at this stage give any indication as to what the Budget Statement might or might not contain.
