Footnotes
(i) No Exchequer subsidies are payable to growers of wheat or beet.
(ii) Fertiliser subsidies are payable to manufacturers and importers who are required to pass them on to farmers by way of reductions in the price of the materials. It is not possible to say how much subsidy accrues to farmers in individual counties or the number of farmers in these counties who benefit from the subsidy.
(iii) Prior to 1965, statistics in relation to milk supplies to creameries were compiled on the basis of the county in which the central creamery of each creamery group was located. As there were no central creameries in County Carlow or County Roscommon, figures in respect of these counties are not separately available for 1950-51 or 1960-61. Since 1965, milk supplies have been related, for statistical purposes, to the counties in which the several creamery intake points (whether central or branch creamery) are situated, and the figures for 1966-67 and 1967-68 are compiled on this basis. Actual county figures are not available.
