Vol. 239 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Government Offices in Sligo.

2.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if, in view of the Government's promise to have Department offices placed in the provinces, the Great Southern Hotel in Sligo will be converted into Government offices when the new hotel is built by CIE in Sligo.

I would refer the Deputy to the announcement made by the Taoiseach on 16th November, 1967, about the Government's plans for the transfer of certain Departments to Athlone and Castlebar. These plans will take some time to put into effect and, meanwhile, no arrangements are being made for further transfers.

The new hotel at Sligo is being built by Óstlanna Iompair Éireann. The disposal of property surplus to the company's requirements, is entirely a matter for the company.
