Vol. 241 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Protection of Children.

35.

asked the Minister for Justice whether, in view of the widespread anxiety which exists about the inadequacy of the present procedures for the protection of children who are placed for fosterage, he is prepared to introduce legislation to amend the Adoption Act, 1964.

I have no responsibility for the placement of children for fosterage which is a matter for the Minister for Health. The question of an amendment of the Adoption Act in that respect does not arise.
