Vol. 241 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Milk Factory.

15.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the present position in relation to a milk processing factory for North Kerry; and what encouragement he is prepared to give this project.

Because of the current difficult export market for dairy products, I understand that the promoters of the project for the establishment of a cheese and milk powder factory in North Kerry have been giving further consideration to the position and have had discussions recently with a foreign company about a possible alternative milk processing project. A licence has already been promised for a cheese and milk powder factory at Listowel, and any approved milk processing project for the area would, of course, be eligible for the usual industrial grant assistance.
