Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nítrigin Éireann Teoranta.

72.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce why the conditions of repayment of advances from the Central Fund to Nítrigin Éireann Teoranta have not yet been fixed; and when it is proposed to collect from that company the sum of approximately £1½ millions due to the Exchequer in interest payments.

A determination by the Minister for Finance as to the terms of repayment of advances made under section 5 of the Nítrigin Éireann Teoranta Act, 1963, has not been made pending a capital reconstruction of the company which the Government consider desirable. I shall be introducing amending legislation in the next session and I do not wish to say anything now which would anticipate the proposals which will then be placed before the Dáil.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary feel it is desirable for such a company to have a balance sheet which does not contain on the balance sheet itself a liability of this magnitude and is he now suggesting that there will be reconstruction to write off this sum which should have been shown on the balance sheet and should by now be paid?

We had all that before.

We went into all that before.

(Cavan): Relax.
