Vol. 241 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Pedestrian Underpass.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is intended to provide the underpass for pedestrians at Williamstown, Blackrock, County Dublin.

The provision of an underpass for pedestrians is a matter for the local authority. My Department are concerned only in so far as Road Fund moneys may be used to defray the cost. Dún Laoghaire Corporation submitted a proposal to my Department on 2nd May, 1969, for the construction of an underpass at the location mentioned by the Deputy, and the cost of it to be charged against the corporation's Road Fund grant allocation. The corporation have been asked to consider the feasibility of providing a footbridge as an alternative to an underpass and have been advised that the estimates of cost submitted by them appear to be low.
