Vol. 242 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Import of Dogs.

18.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if, in view of the recent restrictions on the importation of dogs from England following a case of rabies there, similar precautions are being taken in regard to the importation of dogs from Northern Ireland.

When the outbreak of rabies was confirmed in Britain my Department and the Ministry of Agriculture in Belfast, acting in consultation, introduced identical systems of control on the importation of dogs and cats from Britain. No restrictions are, therefore, necessary on the importation of dogs from the Six Counties.
