Vol. 242 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of Louth Road.

47.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a firm (name supplied) which carried out road repairs at Castlebellingham, County Louth, left the road in a dangerous condition at different periods during work progress with consequent damage to motor vehicles using it; and that the firm concerned has since gone into liquidation, with both the receiver and the insurance company refusing to accept responsibility for the damage involved; and if he will consider recouping a claimant for damage sustained.

If the person concerned considers he has a valid claim, it is open to him to pursue it against the local authority, the receiver for the contractor, or the insurer. I have no responsibility for the execution of the work or for any consequential damage.
