Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Playing Fields.

8.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will take steps to see that Dublin Corporation make available a soccer pitch at Markievicz Park, Ballyfermot, so as to stop the present system operated by that body whereby Gaelic games only are allowed at the above-mentioned location, and soccer only at Le Fanu Park.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will ensure that in the future Dublin Corporation will make available their playing fields in Ballyfermot to football teams of over 18 years of age, which is not their practice at present.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 8 and 9 together.

The allocation of playing pitches for different codes of sport in recreational areas owned by the corporation and the general administration and control of such pitches are matters for decision by the corporation and I have no direct functions in regard to them.
