Vol. 242 No. 6

Messages from Seanad. - Business of Dáil.

I move:

That notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in Standing Orders the following provisions shall apply until the adjournment for the Christmas Recess:

(a) On Thursday the Dáil shall sit later than 5.30 p.m. and the hour at which business is to be interrupted shall be 10.30 p.m.;

(b) On Fridays the Dáil shall meet at 10.30 a.m. and adjourn not later than 2 p.m., and

(c) On Wednesdays only, Government business shall be interrupted to take Private Members' Business.

One and a half hours each Wednesday for Private Members' Business?

There will be no questions on Fridays?

We are glad to see that the Government have decided to accept the Labour Party's proposal to have longer sittings.

I hope the Deputy will be here.

I am always here, unlike some of the Ministers' colleagues.

Question put and agreed to.
