Vol. 242 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Demolition.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government when Dublin Corporation will proceed with the planned demolition of Hollyfield buildings; and if he will outline how far the corporation has progressed with its plans to create an amenity area beside Hollyfield Buildings.

Dublin Corporation have not notified me of any decision by them to proceed with the demolition of Hollyfield Buildings. No proposal for the creation of an amenity area beside the buildings has been submitted to my Department. The formulation of any such proposal would be a matter for the corporation.

Would the Minister ever think of visiting Hollyfield Buildings and having a look at them?

Has the Minister ever seen them?

I think they would surprise the Minister.

I can assure the Deputy they would not because I am well acquainted with them, but I will leave the visiting of them to local representatives. Apparently Deputy Dr. O'Donovan has suddenly become acquainted with these. I have known them for a long time.

Let me tell the Minister that Hollyfield Buildings have deteriorated considerably.
