Vol. 242 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Bridge.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government when work is likely to commence on the erection of Dromona bridge, Villierstown, County Waterford.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the difficulties that have arisen in regard to Dromana Bridge, Villierstown, Cappoquin, County Waterford; and whether he is in a position to assist the county council by way of grant or otherwise to repair or replace the bridge to enable it to carry vehicular traffic so as to facilitate the people of Villierstown.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take questions Nos. 42 and 43 together. The reconstruction of this bridge is primarily a matter for Waterford County Council who are the responsible road authority. In October, 1968, my Department approved of a proposal to have trial borings carried out in connection with the replacement of the bridge. I understand that the results of these borings are being examined by the county council. There is no proposal before me in regard to the bridge at present.
