Vol. 242 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allowances for Care of Incapacitated Persons.

19.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if, in connection with daughters and step-daughters, who have relinquished insurable employment for the purpose of caring for their incapacitated parents or step-parents, regulations will be introduced to ensure that they will be allowed credited contributions for the periods during which they must care for the incapacitated people.

This matter is already receiving examination in my Department. The examination is at an advanced stage and it is expected that conclusions will be arrived at in the near future.
