Vol. 242 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Consumer Protection Services.

76.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the consumer protection services provided by his Department are carried out in liaison with the Consumer Association; and, if not, if he will arrange for close co-operation with this body.

The Consumers' Association of Ireland is an independent body and its usefulness depends to a large extent on its being independent. This limits the extent to which it can usefully work in conjunction with my Department but the Department has co-operated with it on a number of occasions and will continue to do so as occasion offers.
