Vol. 243 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Potato Prices.

6.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will arrange a guaranteed price for potatoes which are the major product of County Dublin so as to encourage their production in larger quantities and give the security necessary for future agricultural planning.

I am very concerned that suitable measures should be introduced with a view to providing stability in commercial potato production. I do not, however, consider that it would be feasible to introduce a guaranteed price for potatoes having regard to the fact that the quantity of potatoes which is sold commercially is small in relation to the total crop.
