Vol. 243 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois Housing Site.

56.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will as a matter of urgency decide on the location of a suitable site for the provision of houses at Killeshin, Carlow, County Laois, having regard to the fact that the Land Commission have agreed in principle to give such site to Laois County Council but the location has not been determined; and if the matter can now be concluded in view of the urgent need for houses in the area.

I understand that an application from the Laois County Council for a site for housing development at Killeshin is on record and that the local Land Commission inspector has discussed their requirements with the council's representatives. The application will be fully considered in connection with the disposal of lands in the possession of the Land Commission in this area for which allotment plans are at present being drafted.
