Vol. 244 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Accommodation of Patient.

34.

asked the Minister for Health what efforts he has made to obtain accommodation for a person (name supplied) in one of the Cheshire Homes or in the Rehabilitation Institute, Dún Laoghaire, in view of this person's urgent need for expert medical attention; and what have been the results of his efforts.

I have made repeated efforts over the past five months to have the person concerned accommodated in one of the Cheshier Homes or other similar institution. As the accommodation in these institutions is overtaxed for a considerable period, I regret that it was not possible to have her facilitated. I am still continuing my efforts and hope it will be possible to have her accommodated at a fairly early date.

I understand that this lady had been previously investigated at the National Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Dún Laoghaire, and discharged with the suggestion that if she could not manage at home she be admitted to St. Vincent's Hospital, Tullamore, where she is at present.
