Vol. 244 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disabled Person's Allowance.

35.

asked the Minister for Health why a person (name supplied) in County Roscommon has been refused a disabled person's allowance.

I am informed by the Roscommon County Council, the appropriate health authority in this case, that the application for a Disabled Persons (Maintenance) Allowance from the person referred to in the question was refused on medical grounds. The determination of eligibility on such grounds is a matter for the chief medical officer or other authorised officer of the health authority. I have no power to interfere with such decision in any particular case.
