Vol. 244 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Stillorgan (Dublin) Pedestrian Crossing.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the number of accidents caused to pedestrians attempting to cross the main Bray-Dublin road at the Stillorgan-Lower Kilmacud road traffic lights; and if he will ensure that the time given pedestrians an opportunity to cross the road, be increased from five seconds as at present to a minimum of thirty seconds or alternatively provide a pedestrian crossing near these traffic lights.

I understand that there was one accident involving injury to a pedestrian at this junction since the installation of traffic lights. The timing of the phases in traffic light signals and the provision of pedestrian crossings are matters for the local authority and, accordingly, I have arranged to have the Deputy's representations brought to the notice of Dublin County Council.
