Vol. 244 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Query Fees.

16.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that certain local authorities charge house purchasers a fee of five guineas for answering queries raised by building societies and other lenders as to whether the services such as roads have been taken in charge by the local authority; if he is aware that the charge mentioned, or any charge, is unreasonable and a grave hardship on house purchasers who are ratepayers or potential ratepayers; and if he will take steps to have this charge abolished.

I am not so aware. If the Deputy furnishes me with the names of the local authorities concerned, I will have the matter investigated.
