Vol. 244 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin City School Classes.

243.

asked the Minister for Education the number of classes in Dublin city national schools on the latest date for which figures are available with 50 pupils and over; and why it takes so long for the Department to obtain information from schools as to the number of pupils in classes.

The number of classes in Dublin city national schools on 1st February, 1969, with 50 pupils and over was 436. The total number of classes in the city is 2,430.

Information on class sizes and other details of enrolments in national schools is sought annually on 1st February. The subsequent assembling and analysing of the information furnished must of necessity take a period of months to complete.
