Vol. 244 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Licensing of Insurance Agents.

116.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will arrange for the licensing of all insurance agents and brokers in the country.

I do not consider that restrictions should be imposed by legislation on entry into any trade or profession except where they are necessary in the public interest. The need for restrictions on these grounds has not, as yet, been established in the case of insurance agents or brokers.
