Vol. 244 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Brain Operations.

13.

asked the Minister for Health how many people are on the waiting list for admission to the Richmond Hospital, Dublin for brain operations.

There are 22 patients awaiting admission to this hospital for brain surgery.

Can the Minister say for how long they have been on the waiting list?

The approximate period is three months.

Would the Minister be prepared to look into a specific case?

I could look into a specific case but the urgent cases are given priority and the current backlog is average.

Can the Minister say if priority is given to private patients as opposed to public patients?

As far as I know priority is given to the urgent cases wherever they arise.
