Vol. 244 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Letting of Lands.

99.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission accept land bonds as payment for land taken from them on the eleven months system.

The answer is in the negative.

Would the Minister not agree that since the Land Commission ask people to accept these land bonds at face value in payment, they themselves should in turn accept them similarly in payment?

I have considerable sympathy with the man involved in the particular case which, I think, the Deputy has in mind but I have already made my personal views clear with regard to land bonds.

Can we anticipate early action to implement the Minister's views?

I should hope for it but I do not expect that that will involve acceptance by the Land Commission of land bonds for rent.
