Vol. 245 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pensions.

25.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider extending the increase of old age pension in respect of a prescribed female relative so that it will cover a female orphan who has been a member of a household for some years and who remains a member of the household.

A further extension to the classes of persons who may be treated as prescribed female relatives is not at present contemplated. I would like to point out that where a female orphan has been adopted by a pensioner under the Adoption Acts she is treated as a daughter for the purposes of the Old Age Pensions Acts.
