Vol. 245 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford River Obstruction.

9.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of the obstruction at Clohamon across the river Slaney which limits the free passage of fish; and if there is any action he can take or proposes to take under the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959, to deal with this situation.

I am so aware and my Department is in correspondence with the parties concerned with a view to taking remedial measures.

I propose to await the outcome of the correspondence before considering whether action under the fishery statutes might be appropriate in this case.
