Vol. 245 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter and Margarine Sales.

5.

asked the Taoiseach the most recent figures for sales on the home market of (a) butter and (b) margarine; and if he can give corresponding figures over the past few years.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving estimated sales of (a) creamery butter and (b) margarine on the home market in each of the years 1962 to 1969.

Following is the statement:

NOTE: The above estimates are based on production, plus imports, less exports. In the case of creamery butter stock changes at public cold stores, creameries, etc. have been taken into account.

*Does not include farmers' butter the bulk of which is consumed without process of sale. Over the period 1962-1969 the estimated production of farmers' butter declined from 237,900 cwts. to 56,400 cwts.
