Vol. 245 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Estate.

97.

Mr. Dunne

asked the Minister for Lands when it is expected to complete the acquisition of the Grant Estate, Gurtagarry, Toomevara, County Tipperary; and the reasons for the delay in finalising this acquisition.

Possession of this 251 acre property passed to the Land Commission last week.

Proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of the lands had actually reached the price-fixation stage when, in July, 1968, the owner applied for, and was granted, leave to lodge a late objection to acquisition. Adjournments of the hearing of the appeal against the price fixed, granted on the application of the owner, further deferred completion of the proceedings.

The price was finally fixed in December, 1969.
