asked the Minister for External Affairs what is the attitude of the Government with regard to Recommendation No. 593 on the situation of young workers which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 26th January, 1970; and whether they will meet the requests contained in paragraph 5 of this recommendation.

The Government would regard the general tenor of the Recommendation as progressive and unexceptionable. However, the extent to which its detailed proposals can be adopted in this country at the present time will require full examination by the Departments concerned.
