Vol. 245 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Water Supply.

25.

asked the Minister for Lands the reason for the non provision to date of a separate water supply to a holding at Clareen, Birr, County Offaly (details supplied); and if he will have the case examined and brought to a conclusion without delay.

The Land Commission provided an excellent water supply for use jointly by the person referred to in the question (on whose land there is no water) and his neighbour. I understand that disagreements have arisen between them which have affected the supply to the holding mentioned.

The Land Commission are satisfied that the arrangements made for the supply of water to both holdings are adequate and consider that it is primarily a matter for the parties themselves to settle their differences and come to a mutually satisfactory arrangement for the operation of the joint supply.

However, I am asking the Land Commission whether they would consider providing an alternative means of supply for the person referred to by the Deputy.

Question No. 26 postponed.
