Vol. 246 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Bovine TB Office.

4.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is satisfied that the present staff situation in the bovine tuberculosis eradication scheme office in Tipperary town is adequate; and, if not, when he intends to increase the staff.

Except for a couple of recent vacancies which are presently being filled, I am satisfied that the staff at the office is adequate.

Can the Minister say when the vacancies were advertised?

It is not a question of advertising. There is a panel from which clerical staff are recruited. The vacancies are filled from a list already established on the basis of interviews held some time ago following advertisements.

Is this the practice in Donegal, particularly in North East Donegal?

Exactly.

The Minister appoints them on their merit?

I thought the Deputy had some friends in that office.

He is disowning them.
