Vol. 246 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Telephone Service.

101.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is intended to install automatic telephone service in the Cashel district, County Tipperary.

Cashel is included in the list of exchanges which it is planned to convert to automatic working during the next four years. Plans are not yet sufficiently advanced to enable me to say when conversion will take place. It would be premature at this stage to forecast when the remaining exchanges in the Cashel district will be converted to automatic working.

Could the Minister tell me, even within a year—a reasonable guess: he mentioned up to four. Could he give us two or three?

Within a short number of years.

I gceann tamall gairid.

102.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when he intends to convert Clonmel post office, County Tipperary, to the automatic telephone system.

It is expected that Clonmel telephone exchange will be converted to the automatic system in about three years.
