Vol. 247 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Probation Officer.

24.

asked the Minister for Justice what progress, if any, has been made in the past three months regarding the provision of a probation officer to work full-time in conjunction with Cork District Court.

As part of the expansion and reorganisation of the probation and aftercare service which I announced when moving the Second Reading of the Prisons Bill, 1970, on 26th May, I am arranging for the recruitment of an additional eight welfare officers to the service this year. One of them will be assigned to Cork city. A further officer will be appointed to Cork next year.
