Vol. 247 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Estate.

37.

asked the Minister for Lands what is the present position regarding the White estate, lands of Rashinagh, Ballinahown, Athlone, County Offaly; if representations have been received from local land holders to have this estate acquired for division; if so, whether he is in a position to state if agreement has been reached on the price of this estate; if he is in a position to state whether arrangements have been made to take over this estate; and if it is proposed to divide it among the local small holders.

The Land Commission have reached agreement with the owner for the purchase of this 209 acre property; arrangements are now being made to close the sale.

It is as yet too early to say when a scheme for division can be planned but the claims of all applicants will be thoroughly assessed before the lands are allotted.
