Vol. 247 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Transport Scheme.

44.

asked the Minister for Education what is the present position regarding the application under the school transport scheme for the children from Coolroe, Bellgrove and Garrymaddock areas attending Rath national school, Ballybrittas, County Laois, for free transport; and if he will expedite a favourable decision in the matter in view of the long distances which the children have to travel to school.

In order to warrant the establishment of a transport service to a national school it is necessary to have at least ten eligible children residing in the same locality. On investigation, it was found that this condition was not fulfilled in the case of the eligible children residing in the Rath school district.
