Vol. 247 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Technological and Scientific Research.

4.

asked the Minister for External Affairs what steps have been taken to date to participate in the co-operation in science and technology between European nations proposed by the European Economic Community in November last; whether any persons or organisations have been nominated to participate on Ireland's behalf in any research, discussions or studies on such matters; and, if so, the names of the persons and organisations involved.

Ireland was one of the countries which accepted the invitation of the Member States of the EEC to participate in a proposed programme of co-operation on technological and scientific research. We are represented on the expert groups which have been working out the details of the programme's various projects. The representatives are drawn from the appropriate Government Departments, the National Science Council, the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards, and CIE.
