Vol. 247 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bord na Móna Pension Scheme.

8.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will consider approving of a commencing date in June, 1970, in advance of the statutory instrument, for the revised Bord na Móna pension and gratuity scheme accepted by the trade unions some time ago.

A scheme to amend the Bord na Móna regular works superannuation scheme is at present under consideration in consultation with the Minister for Finance. The scheme involves a major overhaul of the existing scheme and it will take some time to examine it. I have, however, already informed Bord na Móna that I will not object to the new scheme being implemented with effect from 4th June, 1970.

That is due to a series of constructive questions from Deputy Tully.

Less than 25s a week pension.
