Vol. 247 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Calf Subsidy Scheme.

34.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if payment of the calf subsidy scheme grant will be made this year to those applicants who were late last year.

I presume the Deputy is referring to those herdowners whose applications under the beef cattle incentive scheme were received after 30th April last year.

The herds of applicants whose applications were received between 1st May and 15th August, 1969 were inspected in September last and were specially inspected again in April/May of this year. Subject to the terms of the scheme, grants will be paid to these applicants shortly.

The herds of applicants whose applications were received between 16th August, 1969 and 8th May, 1970 are at present in the course of inspection. These herds will be inspected again later this year and payment of any grants earned will be made in due course.
