asked the Taoiseach if he will give particulars of fatal work accidents for the year preceding the commencement of the Occupational Injuries Act in the form of a reply of 11th November, 1965.

The latest year preceding the commencement of the Occupational Injuries Act for which data are available is 1966. The information requested by the Deputy in respect of 1966 is shown in the following table:

NUMBER of cases of fatal accidents in which workmen's compensation was paid by insurance companies and certain large uninsured employers in 1966, distinguishing nature of case and whether industrial or agricultural, and showing amount of compensation paid.

In the period 1st January to 30th April, 1967, immediately preceding the commencement of the Occupational Injuries Act, no compensation was paid in respect of a fatal accident.

asked the Minister for Health (a) the number of State or semi-State boards under the aegis of his Department at the present time, (b) names and addresses of members, (c) date on which they were appointed, (d) name of chairman, (e) date of appointment, (f) salary, expenses, allowances or money paid under any other heading to all members including the chairman each year for the past five years.

The information is being compiled and I would suggest the Deputy repeat the question in a week.

No such board is responsible to me.

NOTES:

1. The annual fee of Board members is £500 except in the case of the following Companies:—

(i) Shannon Free Airport Development Company—£325 a year,

(ii) Óstlanna Iompair Éireann Teo.—£200 a year.

Three members of the Board of Aer Lingus Teo. are also members of the Board of Aerlínte Éireann Teo. but are paid fees only in respect of membership of one Board.

2. The annual fee of Chairman of the Boards is as follows:

(i) Chairman of Aer Lingus Teo. and Aerlínte Teo.—£1,500 a year.

(ii) Chairman of Aer Rianta Teo., Bord Fáilte Éireann—£600 a year.

(iii) Chairman of CIE—£1,500 a year.

(iv) Chairman of Bord na Móna, British and Irish Steampacket Co. Ltd., Irish Shipping Ltd. and Shannon Free Airport Development Co. Ltd.—£750.

(v) Chairman of ESB—£7,000 a year.

3. The terms of appointment of the Chairmen and Board members of CIE, ESB, Bord Fáilte Éireann and Bord na Móna provide for payment of such travelling and subsistence allowances as are appropriate to a Civil Servant of the highest grade.

4. A number of Board members are also chief executives of the companies concerned. They were appointed by their respective companies and no information is available about their remuneration.
